Dr. Benjamin Boren
Store Owner

Dr. Benjamin Boren brings a unique and extensive knowledge to the piano industry, as he is a professional pianist and artist-level teacher. He was drawn into the piano business by Joseph Brattesani, founder of World Class Pianos, through visiting the store to write a review on Petrof grand pianos for the Pianobuyer publication. Boren has been the owner of World Class Pianos since early 2017.
Boren enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience with clients through demonstrating each piano’s sound and playing capability, and helping clients hear and understand the nuanced differences between pianos and brands from the perspective of both a concert pianist and a piano store owner.

As a pianist, Boren has performed extensively throughout North America and China as both a soloist and in collaboration with other artists.  Some of his live performances can be found on Youtube, and he also has several professional recordings, including his recording of the complete piano sonatas by Carl Vine, Benjamin Boren Plays Carl Vine, which was released in 2012 to critical acclaim.  Boren’s collaborative recording work can be heard on two Enharmonic Records releases - with world-renowned saxophonist Kenneth Tse in Written for Kenneth, and with violinist Rachel Patrick in Presenting Rachel Patrick.  He can also be heard on Titanic Records, playing with flutist Alexander Viazotsev
in From My Homeland.
As a teacher, Boren has a worldwide base, and has taught pianists on five continents via Skype, mostly working with advanced students preparing for recitals and competitions. Boren formerly served as Coordinator of Keyboard Studies at California State University Stanislaus, where he taught applied piano lessons, academic piano classes, group piano, upper-division music theory courses, was director of the Ghiglieri Piano Competition, and ran the piano division for Summer Music at Stanislaus.
An Indiana native, Boren holds a DM in Piano from the prestigious Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he studied with the internationally celebrated pianist Andre Watts.
